Remembering for a future of peaceful coexistence in diversity: Human chain on 13 February 2022

Every year on 13 February, the people of Dresden, together with numerous actors from politics, business, research, education and culture, remember the destruction of the city during the Second World War. Their common concern is to set a sign for peace and against violence and war.

For the commemoration on the 77th anniversary of the event, the members of the AG 13 February and numerous initiatives in Dresden have prepared a diverse commemoration. Under the motto "Remembering for a future of peaceful coexistence in diversity", a two-part human chain will be formed as a central commemoration on Sunday, 13 February 2022 in the city centre at Altmarkt and Neumarkt and will tie a strong, common bond of cohesion as a sign against hatred and violence and for a democratic, humane and diverse society.

"Education, science and research need openness and diversity. New insights and innovations can only come about through dialogue and debate with other opinions," says the rector of HTW Dresden, Prof. Katrin Salchert. "Tolerance, plurality and respect for human dignity regardless of social, ethnic and religious background are values that HTW Dresden stands for. The human chain on 13 February sets an example for this peaceful coexistence."
